The  lipped  lid  serves  to  hold  hot  coals  on  top  to  more  evenly  heat  the  pan  making  it  more  like  an  "oven"  inside. Can  be  placed  directly  in  a  fire  or  use  our  tripod  stand (Item # 7485) and  hang  your  dutch  oven  by  a  chain  over  the  fire. Must  be  pre-seasoned.
